I was born in Denmark, but moved to the UK in 2001. I received a BA in Visual Theories in 2005 and am currently in my final year of a sculpture degree at Edinburgh College of Art. My sculptural practice is influenced by science as well as the natural environment. I am interested in the connection between art and science and the ethical implications of scientific advances. I also seek to explore how technological and scientific developments broadens the scope for artistic work and experiment with new techniques in order to create works that are a result of the particular time and situation in which they were created. I see my work as a way of making sense of the world around me and explore themes that I find it difficult to grasp, such as time, weather, loss, ageing and the senses.
My current work explores the area of touch and tactility. I am interested in the physicality of sculpture and experiment with works that can/cannot be touched and the traces left by touch. My most recent works make use of laser engravings on glass in order to make the transience of touch permanent. |
